This page was created at the beginning of the 2021 season and was populated during the course of that season<\/p>\n

The WHS system was introduced on 2nd<\/sup>\u00a0November 2020 and replaces the\u00a06 systems then in operation<\/strong>. Effectively for KLGC this means that it will be effective from the first medal of the new season in April 2021<\/p>\n

In Scotland the WHS is administered by the Scottish Golf Union (SGU)<\/p>\n

In the new system the player will have a \u2018handicap\u2019 called their\u00a0Handicap Index<\/strong>\u00a0and the course will also have the equivalent of a handicap called the \u2018Slope Rating\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

The WHS introduces a\u00a0General Play<\/strong>\u00a0concept where you can play for your handicap other than in a Medal and also the concept of the course itself being rated in terms of difficulty \u2013 the\u00a0\u2018slope rating\u2019.<\/strong>\u00a0It also introduces a third concept whereby\u00a0each 9 holes<\/strong>\u00a0is rated for Handicap Index purposes and in\u00a0General Play<\/strong>\u00a0you can submit a score for 9 holes only<\/p>\n

The R&A have provided a course handicap calculator which can be found here\u00a0 http:\/\/www.randa.org\/course-handicap-calculator<\/a>
\nThis can be used to ascertain your course handicap for any course in the world (almost!!)<\/p>\n

KLGC Members Guide World Handicap System\u00a0 \u2013 this has been distributed via email and is here for reference. Please note that the slope has changed following re-rating at the beginning of the 2022 season – the new slopes are on the card. Also score entry must be carried out in the PC in the lobby see email above . This follows an incident caused by a member mis-using the app<\/a><\/p>\n
