A warm welcome to Kilsyth Lennox Golf Club from Stephen Kelly Club Captain 2019
I consider it a huge honour and privilege as Captain, to welcome all current and new members to Kilsyth Lennox Golf Club in 2019. I would also like to thank the committee members for accepting my nomination for Captain this year, can I also thank my friend and outgoing Captain Alan Brown for a great 2018, it’s been an honour working with him.
To all members, we have a web site that you can visit along with our social media platforms Facebook and Twitter which gives an insight of what Kilsyth Lennox Golf Club has to offer. Alternatively please pay a visit in person as it’s the best way to experience all the facilities available.
2018 was once again a successful year for our club teams especially the McIntyre team Captained by Eric O’Neil the team won the final at Kirkintilloch Golf Club. We also had a fantastic Club Championship final between two great golfers Billy Erskine and Gary Motherwell with the victory going to our new Club Champion Gary Motherwell congratulations to him.
We also had a great turn out again at the Bankier Memorial trophy team event congratulations go to the clubs A team who picked up the Trophy in 2018. I would also like to say well done to match & handicap team David, Ryan, and Stephen for a great job and I’m looking forward to working with them this year.
In 2018 as the nominated Social Convener we had two great singing acts in Neil Diamond and Rhapsody which members enjoyed, our social events require new focus in 2019 to drive them forward and increase member’s attendance, I look forward to aiding our new Social Convener in taking this vital part of the Club forward in the forthcoming 2019 season.
On a final note to all my fellow members I hope 2019 will be a great year for you all as Club Captain, along with David Stewart Vice-Captain we will try and make 2019 a year to remember. I would like to congratulate David on his election as Vice-Captain for 2019 and look forward to working closely with him throughout the season.
My charity this year Is Children’s Hospices Across Scotland most people know them as CHAS. For over twenty years they have been offering a full family support service for babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions. This includes palliative care, family respite and support through their hospices, homecare services and hospital presence.
I will advertise information around the Club regarding this charity and some charity cans at the bar, and ask members for as much help as possible to try and raise some money for this great cause thank you in advance.
Captains Day will have a new format which will be a 4 ball Texas’s scramble, and a Captains Trophy. Yes! There will be a theme so hopefully I will get support and help on the day and on Captains night evening event.
